From June into July

from Sam Sarver

Were you able to get some sleep the other night? It was loud! Welcome, everyone, to our July edition of the Atomic Newsletter! It always feels like so much has happened and not much as well. As of last week on The Written & The Lost, there have been 6 episodes split 3 and 3 between our two groups. We hope you are all enjoying the change and all the wacky antics and sad moments that are coming from it. But things are only just heating up for our party, more secrets will be revealed and more questions will come from them, and yet, maybe there really are fewer questions than before, as the end can be seen a ways off when standing atop the mountain peak.

We also just saw the release of O.O.P.S. Episode 7: Camp Murder-Camp! *Imagine a spooky, electric guitar riff here* It’s one of my absolute favorite episodes, not just to write, but to record as well. O.O.P.S. continues to blow me away and build my excitement for the other scripted shows we have cooking! With it being an 11 episode show, we’ll be seeing episodes 9, 10, 11, and 12 come out this month, and with those episodes O.O.P.S. Season 1 will conclude! It is our first scripted series, so we would absolutely love to hear any feedback from you about it that we can take with us going into our future endeavors. Mostly, I hope you all are enjoying it! If you haven’t listened to it yet, I can attest, the show is very binge friendly (I’ve listened to it all in one day several times).

In other news, I was at the Origins Game Fair, in Columbus Ohio last month, invited up to help run a table at the Mutants and Masterminds mega event hosted by Alex Thomas, line developer of Mutants and Masterminds with Green Ronin and the USP network. I had a ton of fun attending alongside a few members of Don’t Kill My Character (where I play and run Mutants and Masterminds for streams on Twitch): Kate, Claude, and Extell, some of whom have been voice actors on Atomic Broadcasting - as well as R.C. and Rachel from Masks and Mayhem (a spectacular Mutants and Mastermind podcast!) It was a lot of fun meeting them and getting to spend the whole week together. I am incredibly grateful and hope to go again next year, this time signing up to run games throughout the convention, so if you think five straight days of board games and TTRPGs sounds like a good time, come to Origins next year and see me, sign up for my games if you want, and have fun!

To finish up today, we will be at JoMoCon in Joplin, MO on July 18th and 19th. If you’re in the area, I highly recommend this convention. It is in the event center at the mall (359 Northpark LN Suite 1, Joplin, MO, 64801). We are really excited; we loved this con last year, and the event center was very nice. We hope to see some of you there.

I hope ya’ll have a wonderful month! I hope you are all enjoying our shows, and I highly encourage checking out any of our miniseries you might not have listened to, as I love them all. Make sure you eat and hydrate and take care of yourself, and have an Atomic Time!

Cast Corner: A Watching Suggestion

from Michael Jenkins
Hey, you, reading this. Generally, I dislike telling strangers what to do, but you need to watch the thing I'm watching. You need to do it because I personally like it, and though I do not know you at all and have no way of knowing your taste in media, I just know you will like it.

So the plot is a plot, a goodish one. But the characters are great. Most of them aren't that trope filled. Oh, I forgot to mention it's action filled, and the action is goodish too. I promise the small insignificant thing that that made its impression in me specifically will happen for you too. It's just that good.

Okay, all jokes aside, I am enjoying Gachiakuta. It's all a little heavy-handed in its themes, but it has style and a grungy aesthetic. The morals aren't awful, but it can get lost in itself sometimes. Bouncing between the power of friendship and deep seeded hatred fueling a murderous revenge plot a little too aggressively, but that may be leading to a larger story arch later (I don't know). Oh, it has some sensitive material that may disturb some viewers; be warned and do your research before watching. But, if you give it a watch, I hope you enjoy it too.
Thanks for supporting us in any way you can.
We love the community that we are seeing grow, and we hope to see more and more of you!

All our love to you and yours,
The Atomic Broadcasting crew
